El tiomersal, timerosal o etil de mercurio es un derivado del mercurio fabricado en los laboratorios norteamericanos Lilly en el a\u00f1o 1928 con una funci\u00f3n antis\u00e9ptica para preservar cualquier f\u00e1rmaco de la contaminaci\u00f3n microbiana.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Es una mol\u00e9cula compleja con dos componentes qu\u00edmicos: 60% de aspirina o \u00e1cido acetil salic\u00edlico y 40% de etilmercurio.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Desde 1940 hasta el 2006 se utiliz\u00f3 ampliamente en veterinaria y en medicina. Form\u00f3 parte de los colirios, antis\u00e9pticos y, ampliamente, de todas las vacunas v\u00edricas y bacterianas. En veterinaria se abandon\u00f3 su uso en 1996 y en medicina se redujo su uso en Europa y Norteam\u00e9rica a partir del 2006.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Todav\u00eda las vacunas presentan altos niveles de tiomersal en los continentes asi\u00e1tico, africano, austral y en gran parte del continente americano.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0Fue a partir de la ordenanza de la Agencia Europea del Medicamento (AEM) del 2000 cuando los diversos pa\u00edses europeos comenzaron a retirar el mercurio de los colirios y de los antis\u00e9pticos (mercromina) y a disminuir la cantidad de etilmercurio en las vacunas tanto animales como humanas. Desde el a\u00f1o 1940 se conoc\u00edan las acciones de este mineral a nivel vegetal, animal y humano. Sin embargo, no interes\u00f3 a los fabricantes ni a las autoridades sanitarias reconocer la alta toxicidad que produc\u00eda en los seres vivos.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n La qu\u00edmica actual considera que tanto el metil (presente en la alimentaci\u00f3n) como el etil mercurio (presente en las vacunas) que ya a partir de 0 microgramos (1000microgramos es 1 mg) constituyen un metal pesado altamente t\u00f3xico para los organismos vegetales y animales, el cual se elimina en las 6 semanas posterior a su ingesta e inoculaci\u00f3n y que, combinado con antibi\u00f3ticos, otros metales pesados, con el aluminio, con el formaldeh\u00eddo y el sorbitol puede potenciar su toxicidad y, su eliminaci\u00f3n puede ir m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de las 24 semanas pudi\u00e9ndose acumular progresivamente en el tejido nervioso.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0Las publicaciones de la AEP (Asociaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola Pediatr\u00eda), de la AEV (Asociaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola de Vacunolog\u00eda), de la AEE (Asociaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola de Epidemiolog\u00eda y de la SEMP (Sociedad Espa\u00f1ola de Medicina Preventiva), a\u00fan hoy en d\u00eda, minimizan los efectos adversos originados por las cantidades \u00ednfimas o trazas (inferiores a 1 microgramo) del etilmercurio presentes en las vacunas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Afirman que el mercurio se elimina r\u00e1pidamente, que la cantidad presente en las vacunas es m\u00ednima y que no est\u00e1n demostradas dichas adversidades.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Desde 1956 se sabe que el mercurio puede afectar el ri\u00f1\u00f3n, crear reacciones al\u00e9rgicas, y autoinmunes, generar encefalitis, desencadenar la muerte y atravesar las barreras placentarias y hematoencef\u00e1licas. Hasta el a\u00f1o 2006 en Espa\u00f1a y Europa las vacunas del calendario sistem\u00e1tico de vacunaci\u00f3n en los 18 primeros meses de vida conten\u00edan 138\u00b44 microgramos de mercurio.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Superaban 11 veces las cantidades permitidas por la FDA (Food and Drug Administration). A partir del 2006 hasta febrero 2020 el calendario vacunal europeo en los primeros 18 meses de vida contiene 25 microgramos de mercurio.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Supera 2-3 veces las cantidades permitidas por la FDA. Si a esta situaci\u00f3n del etilmercurio de las vacunas a\u00f1adimos el metil mercurio presente en la alimentaci\u00f3n estamos ante una exposici\u00f3n t\u00f3xica alta y, en consecuencia, perjudicial para los seres vivos.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Hemos de aclarar que los fabricantes no est\u00e1n obligados a declarar el tiomersal en fabricaci\u00f3n en cantidades, denominadas \u00ednfimas o trazas, inferiores a 1 microgramo de timerosal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Es por este motivo que cuando consultamos los prospectos de las vacunas no encontramos referencia alguna al tiomersal.
